Growing slowly to around 4 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide, it suits smaller landscapes or container gardens that need a special, softly textured accent. Despite its distinctive look, it requires minimal pruning, staying neatly shaped on its own. This unique color and form bring year-round interest wherever it’s placed, outshining many typical evergreens.A living juniper-like cypress for the holidays avoids the hassle of disposing single-use decorations. Invite the subtle fragrance and pleasing color into your home throughout the season, then transfer the plant outdoors in spring instead of throwing it away. It’s also an unexpected gift choice for conifer fans or anyone craving a splash of fresh greenery during the colder months. When winter winds down, having this small, graceful tree waiting to head outside only adds to the excitement of spring gardening.Holiday Blue Feathers Hinoki Cypress CareFrom January to early spring, place the cypress in bright, indirect light, watering modestly when the soil surface becomes slightly dry. If the environment is quite dry, a gentle misting can help preserve needle tips. Every week or two, rotate the container slightly so the plant grows evenly and stays balanced. After the cold weather breaks, gradually expose it to outdoor conditions over a week or so. Next, choose a spot in partial shade or full sun, and dig a hole about twice the root ball’s width. Gently set the root ball in place, backfill, and water thoroughly. Adding a layer of mulch around the plant helps to conserve moisture, ensuring a healthy transition from indoors to its permanent garden home.Holiday Blue Feathers Hinoki Cypress InformationUSDA Hardiness Zones: 5 – 8Plant Type: BushesLight Exposure: Full Sun (At Least 6 Hours Of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height: 3 – 4 FeetMature Spread: 4 – 5 FeetSpacing: 4 – 5 FeetHabit: MoundedFlower Color(s): NoneFlower Description: Bloom Period: Foliage Type: EvergreenFoliage Color(s): BlueFoliage Description: Seasonal Interest: Spring Flowering, Summer Flowering, Fall Flowering, Winter Interest, 4 Season InterestWatering: AverageResists: Deer, Disease, Pests & InsectsTolerates: DroughtAttracts: N/AContainer Role: Uses: Borders, Wildlife GardensFeatures: Foliage InterestBrand: Common Name: Blue Feathers Hinoki CypressOther Name(s): Scientific Name: CHAMAECYPARIS OBTUSA `BLUE FEATHERS`
