Coniogramme japonica ‘Variegata’

This fascinating selection of bamboo fern was shared by Judith Jones, who got the plant from former California fern collector, Gordon Becker. For us, Coniogramme japonica ‘Variegata’ has made a tremendous 3-4′ wide patch in the garden where it spreads by short rhizomes. Emerging from the rhizomes are 3.5′ tall, upright, glossy-green, deciduous leaves, each composed of large pinnae and decorated with small “variegated” bands. We truly love Coniogramme japonica ‘Variegata’ and are glad to finally have enough to share.
