Glowstick Red Hot Poker

Glowstick Red Hot Poker is an improved variety of the traditional Kniphofia uvaria. Glowstick is far more compact and dainty compared to older types and perfect for growing in smaller gardens or even containers on a deck or patio. The pale yellow color of the flower spike is easier to include in established garden borders while being just as attractive to native and beneficial pollinators. The foliage is also finer and more delicate, giving Glowstick a more refined profile.  Red Hot Pokers are famed for their resistance to pests or diseases. This low-maintenance plant will spread moderately without becoming a nuisance and is far easier to dig up than other Kniphofia varieties. Deer and rabbits do not even give this perennial a second glance. This plant needs average soil moisture to sustain vigorous blooming. Removing spent flowers will also prolong the flowering period by reducing seed production. Leave as much foliage on the plant over the winter as possible.
