Routinely water during the first growing season, but established plants seldom need water. Give the plant a drink during a heatwave and always apply water to the soil near the base of the plant to reduce the risk of fungal infections on the foliage. This plant is tolerant to most soil types as long as it promotes drainage. Ideally, the soil will have a slightly acid to neutral pH.rLiatris Kobold is not a heavy feeder, and topdressing the soil with organic compost or manure in the spring is typically enough to sustain the plant throughout the growing season. Apply fertilizer once in the spring as soon as new growth appears.rLiatris Kobold SpacingrLiatris spicata will grow 18 to 24 inches tall and just as wide.
