You’ve gotta love those darn taxonomists…Scilla scilloides translates into the scilla that looks like a scilla…no s—t. Hailing from China, Korea, and Japan, this winter-dormant scilla emerges in spring looking like a 4″ tall, glossy-leaf clump of grass. In July and August, the 15″ tall flower spikes arise, giving it the appearance of an airy, pinky mauve liatris. S. scilloides does seed around a bit when happy, so there’s always some to share.
