Tuff Stuff Ah Ha Hydrangea

The Tuff Stuff Ah-Ha™ Hydrangea by Proven Winners ColorChoice® is a compact reblooming mountain hydrangea. This shrub blooms every year without fail. It also puts a lot of energy into creating new blooms throughout the year. The flowers are either pink or blue depending on soil pH. The blooms remind us of waterlilies.rThis bush blooms from early summer all the way to first frost. It is the most prolific reblooming hydrangea we’ve ever seen! This shrub is native to Japan, and can tolerate very harsh winters even in zones 5 and 6! We love using these as an edging plant, creating a very colorful landscaping border. These are also great as container plants or in mass plantings.rTuff Stuff Ah Ha Hydrangea CarerWe recommend planting this in an area with at least 4 hours of sunlight to ensure the best flowering performance. In hotter climates, such as zones 8 and 9, you must provide afternoon shade for some relief.rPruning Tuff Stuff Ah Ha Hydrangeas is not necessary. We do recommend trimming off dead branches and leaves throughout the year. If you do prune, you run the risk of cutting off flower buds for next year’s blooming season.rIt is best to apply a layer of mulch around the plants. This helps retain moisture as well as adding an extra layer of protection during harsh winter months to the shallow roots.rFertilize in early spring, before new growth starts to emerge. You can use general slow release fertilizer designed for woody plants that is found at most stores.rTuff Stuff Ah Ha Hydrangea SpacingrWe recommend planting these 2 to 3 feet apart, center on center. If you choose to grow as a small hedge or landscape border, you can plant 18 to 24 inches apart, center on center.rrTuff Stuff Ah Ha Hydrangea InformationrrrrUSDA Hardiness Zones: 5-9rrrFlower Color(s): Blue, PinkrrrBloom Period: Summer through FallrrrFoliage Color(s): GreenrrrExposure: Partial Sun to Full SunrrrMature Height: 2-3 FeetrrrMature Spread: 2-3 FeetrrrSpacing: 2-3 FeetrrrHabit: Mounded, DwarfrrrBlooms On: New & Old WoodrrrWatering: AveragerrrShrub Type: DeciduousrrrType: Mountain HydrangearrrScientific Name: Hydrangea serrata ‘SMNHSDD’ USPPAFrrrCommon Name: Tuff Stuff Ah Ha HydrangearrrBrand: Proven Winners ColorChoice®
