Above and Beyond Combination

Three powerhouse petunias join forces in Above and Beyond, a pastel-pink cascade that covers itself with trumpet blooms from the first spring warm-up until autumn frost. Supertunia Vista Bubblegum lays down a soft cotton-candy base, Supertunia Vista Fuchsia deepens the palette with saturated pink, and Supertunia Vista Silverberry sprinkles in white flowers brushed with the lightest blush. Each plant begins as a tidy mound, but arcs two to four feet over the basket rim by midsummer, creating a billowy dome of color that reads clearly from across the yard. Subtle petal fragrance and nonstop nectar make this trio a magnet for passing pollinators.Heat tolerance, self-cleaning blooms, and strong mildew resistance keep Above and Beyond looking fresh even during sweltering afternoons. The sturdy stems shrug off light wind and rain all season. The Vista series’ vigorous mounded-then-trailing habit lets the planting act as both filler and spiller in patio pots and baskets. Use the combination to carpet a large bed, brighten commercial planters, or soften retaining walls where long, flowering tendrils can drape.Above and Beyond Combination CarePlant in a peat-based mix amended for sharp drainage and place where at least six hours of direct sun reach the foliage; four hours of morning light plus bright afternoon shade is acceptable in hot climates. Water deeply, then allow the top inch of soil to dry before the next soak; containers may need daily irrigation during heat waves. Apply a balanced water-soluble feed every other week to sustain the heavy bloom load. Deadheading is unnecessary, but a midsummer shear by one-third, followed by feeding, renews dense branching and flower set.Treat this combination as an annual unless you garden in zones 10–11, where winter lows seldom dip below 40 °F. In colder regions, frost ends the show, though baskets can be moved indoors to a bright sunroom for a few bonus weeks. Expect eight months of color outdoors and ten months under glass. Plants grown in the ground will flower until a hard freeze, while containers brought inside pause briefly before resuming bloom under warm, sunny conditions.Above and Beyond Combination SpacingIn a 16-inch basket or patio pot, set one Vista Bubblegum, one Vista Fuchsia, and one Vista Silverberry at equal intervals; use a container at least 12 inches deep with ample drainage holes. Hanging baskets should be secured to a sturdy bracket that can support roughly 20 pounds once plants, soil, and saturated water weight combine. In landscape beds, space transplants 20 inches apart—mounds will knit together quickly, forming a continuous floral carpet.
