Partial Sun to Full Sun (At Least 5 Hours of Direct Sunlight)Height 6 – 10 FeetWidth 5 – 6 FeetGrowing Zones 4-8Soft Serve® False Cypress (Chamaecyparis pisifera ‘Soft Serve’) showcases delicate, fernlike branches with a subtle green hue on top and silvery undertones beneath. Its natural conical shape creates a relaxed, graceful silhouette, reaching around 6 to 10 feet over time with minimal upkeep. Foliage remains soft to the touch year-round, making it a great option near walkways or entry points. Highly adaptable and deer-resistant, it delivers consistent color without the strict pruning demands of some evergreens.A living Soft Serve False Cypress during the holidays brings warmth to indoor spaces and a welcome alternative to one-time-use decorations. The gentle needles and fresh look can enhance festive gatherings, and later on, it moves outside instead of ending up in the trash. This easy-to-manage evergreen also makes a thoughtful gift for garden enthusiasts who value a long-term addition to their landscape. Its size suits small corners or decorative containers.Holiday Soft Serve® False Cypress CareKeep your cypress in a spot receiving bright indirect light from January until spring, watering only when the top layer of soil feels slightly dry. If indoor air is dry, a misting once or twice a week helps retain leaf quality. Avoid drafty heating vents, and rotate the container to maintain even growth on all sides.Once outdoor temperatures moderate, transition your plant gradually by taking it outside for a few hours each day. Select a location with partial to full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Dig a hole about twice as wide as the root ball, set your shrub at ground level, and backfill with loose soil, watering thoroughly. Applying a layer of mulch around the base supports consistent moisture, helping your Soft Serve False Cypress settle into its permanent garden home.Holiday Soft Serve® False Cypress InformationUSDA Hardiness Zones: 4-8Plant Type: ShrubSunlight Exposure: Partial Sun to Full SunMature Height: 6 – 10 FeetMature Width: 5 – 6 FeetPlant Spacing: 6 – 10 FeetGrowth Habit: UprightFlower Color(s): BrownFlower Shade: BrownSeasonal Interest: Grown for FoliageFoliage Type: EvergreenFoliage Color(s): Green with Silver BlueResists: DeerTolerates: SaltFeatures: Deadheading Not Necessary, Foliage InterestUses: Container LandscapePlant Brand: Proven WinnersBotanical/Scientific Name: Chamaecyparis pisifera ‘Dow Whiting’ USPP 20,883
